Families

Every family faces difficult times or has consistent struggles. No one wants to be in a dysfunctional environment and everyone wants to be understood and acknowledged. Family care is so important and the biggest reason I don’t see kiddos under 18 is because issues with kids, are, 9 out of 10 times have a familial aspect. Usually, kids are responding to their environment and the behavior is how they’re coping. I love helping families understand their roles within the family system and assisting with feeling more connected with one another.

You may be asking yourself if family therapy is right for you and yours - most families experience discord at one point in time - maybe everything was fine until their was sudden loss or a developmental milestone a child is going through and you don’t know how to handle the behavioral changes. Maybe generational trauma is influencing how everyone relates to one another and you want your home to feel peaceful either again or for the first time.

Whether you need help with communicating differently as a family, are navigating separation with your children, disconnection or you want to understand how your generational trauma is affecting your family - I can help you do it better.

No one is given a map for how to navigate family dynamics - most of us - including me, come from some form of dysfunction. BUT, it doesn’t have to be that way. You CAN create better habits as a family and ensure you leave a lasting legacy behind.

What You Can Expect

You’re probably wondering how a typical family session goes - I spend time in the first session going over some of the forms you filled out prior to meeting and making sure everyone knows what my role is. Next, I focus on leaving some space for all the members to ask questions, and invite you to share hopes for the outcome of family therapy and any fear or reservations each person has.

As I continue to work with family - everyone gets to voice their concerns, behavior change requests and a chance to have difficult conversations in a space where I help ease the tension those kinds of conversations can bring. Everyone will be validated and challenged and have their voice heard. I aim to have everyone leave each session feeling more heard and more connected.
